About Diwali

Diwali, the Festival of Lights, celebrates the return of Lord Rama to Ayodhya after 14 years of exile and defeating the demon king Ravana. It is the most celebrated festival in India, symbolizing the victory of light over darkness and good over evil. Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and prosperity, is worshipped on this day.

🎉 Traditions & Customs

Families clean and decorate homes with diyas (clay lamps) and rangoli. Lakshmi-Ganesh puja is performed in the evening. Firecrackers are burst (though now limited due to pollution). Sweets like mathri, besan burfi, and kheel-batasha are prepared and shared. Children receive new clothes and gifts.

🌾 In Haryana & Mundakhera

In Mundakhera and nearby villages, Diwali is marked by communal puja at the Shiv Mandir. Women spend days preparing kheel (puffed rice) and batasha (sugar drops) for prasad. Every home places a row of diyas on windowsills and rooftops. The Gram Panchayat decorates the main chowk with lights.

🌙 Panchang Notes

Falls on Kartik Amavasya (no-moon night). Puja muhurta is calculated per Pradosh Kaal — consult local pandit for exact time.
