Independence Day celebrates August 15, 1947 when India gained independence from British colonial rule after nearly 200 years. The British Parliament passed the Indian Independence Act on July 18, 1947, and Jawaharlal Nehru became India's first Prime Minister. The historic "Tryst with Destiny" speech was delivered at midnight.

Flag hoisting by highest dignitary. National Anthem. Cultural programs and patriotic songs by school children. Sweets (especially laddoo) distributed. Wrestling (dangal) and sports events organized in villages.
🌾 In Haryana & Mundakhera
Jhajjar district (of which Mundakhera is part) has contributed many freedom fighters and army soldiers. Independence Day has special emotional resonance. The village commemorates its soldiers and veterans on this day. Local shaheeds (martyrs) are remembered.
