Sunita Devi's journey from the dusty fields of Mundakhera to the national kabaddi arena is a story of sheer determination against all odds.
Born in 1998 into a family of small farmers, Sunita developed her speed and agility chasing goats in the village. At 13, she started playing kabaddi with boys in the local team — there was no girls' team then.
Her talent was spotted by PT teacher Ramesh Yadav at Government School Mundakhera, who convinced her parents to let her train seriously. By 2016, she was playing at district level. The real breakthrough came in 2022 when she was named best raider in the Haryana State Championship, leading her team to gold.
In 2023, Haryana selected her for the National Games. She scored 18 raid points in the tournament — third highest among all raiders. She is currently training at SAI (Sports Authority of India) center in Chandigarh.
Sunita is an inspiration for dozens of young girls in Mundakhera who now play kabaddi in the ground she once played alone on.
