मुंडाखेड़ा गाँव का इतिहास
Updated: 12 Jun 2026
Origin of the Name
The name Mundakhera is believed to have roots in the word "Munda", referring to an ancient clan of settlers who first cultivated these lands. Over centuries, Khera (meaning settlement or hamlet) was added, giving the village its identity.
Ancient Roots
Mundakhera is located in the Badli tehsil of Jhajjar district in Haryana, at pincode 124105. The region falls within the fertile plains of the ancient Haryana, historically part of the Kurujanapada mentioned in the Mahabharata. Archaeological evidence suggests settlements in this region dating back over 2,000 years.
Mughal & Colonial Period
During the Mughal period, the area was part of the Badli Pargana. The British colonial land records (1857 onwards) document Mundakhera as an agricultural village primarily engaged in wheat and sugarcane farming. The village contributed laborers and soldiers during World War I and II.
Post-Independence Development
After India's independence in 1947, Mundakhera was included in Punjab, and after the 1966 reorganization of states, it became part of the newly formed Haryana. The Gram Panchayat system was established, bringing formal local governance to the village.
Modern Era
Today, Mundakhera is a vibrant village with over 4,000 residents. It benefits from proximity to major infrastructure projects including the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway and the proposed Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor (HORC), which are set to transform the region's economic landscape.
