Village Deity — Sheetla Mata
Mata Sheetla is the kuldevi (clan goddess) of many families in Mundakhera. The temple dedicated to her stands at the village entrance, serving as a protective deity for all residents. Devotees believe that Sheetla Mata protects the village from disease, especially smallpox and fever.
Sheetla Ashtami
The biggest festival at this temple is Sheetla Ashtami, celebrated 8 days after Holi. On this day, stale food cooked the previous night is offered to the goddess (as she is believed to prefer cold food). Women from every household carry pitchers of water and baskets of cold roti and rice.
Haryanvi Tradition
The Sheetla fair (mela) at Mundakhera brings together women dressed in traditional ghaghra-choli who sing folk songs (raginis) while walking in procession to the temple. This living tradition connects the village to its Haryanvi cultural roots.
गाँव की कुलदेवी
माता शीतला मुंडाखेड़ा के कई परिवारों की कुलदेवी हैं। गाँव के प्रवेश द्वार पर स्थित यह मंदिर सभी निवासियों की रक्षा करती हैं।
शीतला अष्टमी
होली के आठवें दिन शीतला अष्टमी मनाई जाती है। इस दिन एक रात पहले बनाए ठंडे खाने का भोग लगाया जाता है। महिलाएं पानी के घड़े और ठंडी रोटी-चावल लेकर पैदल मंदिर जाती हैं।
हरियाणवी परंपरा
शीतला मेले में महिलाएं घाघरा-चोली पहनकर रागिनी गाते हुए मंदिर जाती हैं — यह जीवंत परंपरा हरियाणवी संस्कृति का अटूट हिस्सा है।
